One-on-One ASVAB Test Prep & Tutoring

The ASVAB decides two things at once. Your AFQT score sets whether you can enlist at all, and your line scores decide which jobs you qualify for. The AFQT comes from just four subtests: Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Word Knowledge, and Paragraph Comprehension. Two of those four are math, which is where an engineer-led tutor raises a score the fastest. Here is how the AFQT actually works. It is reported as a percentile from 1 to 99, and the standard formula is 2×VE + AR + MK, where VE (Verbal Expression) is derived from your Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension raw scores. So the math half of that score, AR and MK, sits fully within reach of focused tutoring, and it is the half most candidates can raise the quickest. Branch minimums differ, so we set a target based on the branch and the jobs you are after.

The line scores that open up specific jobs pull from the technical subtests, and those play to an engineer's training. Mechanical Comprehension is applied physics: levers, pulleys, gears, and pressure. Electronics Information covers circuits, current, and components. Auto and Shop Information deals with engines, systems, and tools. Assembling Objects is spatial reasoning, matching shapes and connections in your head. General Science spans biology, chemistry, and physics at a high-school level. On the computer version (CAT-ASVAB), Auto Information and Shop Information are two separate subtests; on the paper version they are combined into one. Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension round out the AFQT, and sessions build those through vocabulary in context and a repeatable reading method rather than rote flashcards.
