NCLEX Tutoring
One-on-one NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN tutoring focused on clinical judgment practice, test-taking strategy, dosage calculations, and the science behind the questions.
The NCLEX is a reasoning exam. The content comes from nursing school, but passing also depends on reading a question carefully, deciding what matters most, and choosing the safest action. STEM Tutor 360 offers one-on-one NCLEX tutoring for NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN candidates with that in mind. We start with a diagnostic from your own practice results and build a study calendar backward from your test date. In sessions of 1 to 2 hours on a shared whiteboard, we reason through questions together.
To be clear about scope: STEM Tutor 360 is not a nursing program, and it does not replace one. Your program and a clinical review resource remain the source for nursing content. Where we help is the math, the underlying science, and the test-taking reasoning. That means dosage calculations, chemistry and biochemistry such as acid-base balance, and a repeatable method for prioritization and delegation questions.
What We Cover
A sample study plan
- Bring recent practice results from your review course or question bank, and we sort the misses by cause.
- The calendar runs from your test date back to today, with daily practice questions and a few longer sessions.
- If math is a gap, we go from dimensional analysis to weight-based doses to IV rates, with units written on every line.
- Science support covers pH, acid-base balance, solutions, and electrolytes, taught as chemistry and then tied to the question.
- For reasoning practice, we read each question stem together and name the topic, the client need, and what is being asked. Every missed question gets a one-line rule that you reread.
A dosage calculation, worked
These are practice numbers, not a dosing reference. The order is 4 mg/kg as a single dose. The patient weighs 154 lb. The label reads 100 mg per 2 mL. How many mL do you give?
Step 1, convert the weight: 154 lb divided by 2.2 lb per kg is 70 kg. Step 2, find the dose: . Step 3, find the volume: .
Check it a second way: 100 mg per 2 mL is 50 mg per mL, and 280 mg divided by 50 mg/mL is 5.6 mL. Write units on every line and round only at the end, following the rounding instruction in the question. Real doses come from the order, the label, and your facility's policy.
About the exam
The NCLEX comes from NCSBN in two versions, NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN. The Next Generation NCLEX, in use since April 2023, measures clinical judgment using the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model. It includes case studies and newer item types, for example matrix, bow-tie, extended multiple response, drag and drop, and highlight.
The exam is a computerized adaptive test with between 85 and 150 questions and up to 5 hours. Content follows the Client Needs categories: Safe and Effective Care Environment, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Psychosocial Integrity, and Physiological Integrity. Check current NCSBN information for details. STEM Tutor 360 is independent and not affiliated with NCSBN.
Who this is for
Nursing graduates and students preparing for the NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN, including first-time testers and people retaking the exam. Sessions suit anyone who is comfortable with the clinical material but uneasy with the math, the chemistry, or the question style. Bring your practice results and your test date to the free consultation. Sessions are online nationwide, with in-person options around Richmond, Sugar Land, and Katy, TX.
