- Teams that know the basics
Most GD&T courses teach the symbols on generic example parts, and then your team goes back to drawings that look nothing like them. This course is built around your own prints. Before the session we review a set of your drawings, and the exercises, questions, and examples come from them, so what people learn is what they will use on Monday.
Training is led by Zeeshan Saiyed, a Georgia Tech mechanical engineer (BS and MS, high honors) with more than 8 years of experience at Fortune 500 companies designing components and creating their drawings to the latest GD&T standards.
What the two days cover
Day 1: reading the drawing
- Why GD&T: what plus-or-minus tolerancing can't control
- The symbol set and how to read a feature control frame
- Datums, datum features, and the datum reference frame
- Form and orientation: flatness, straightness, parallelism, perpendicularity
- Exercises on your own drawings
Day 2: location, profile, and applying it
- Position tolerance, MMC and LMC, bonus tolerance, and virtual condition
- Profile, runout, and choosing the right control
- How inspection interprets the drawing
- Tolerance stack-ups for your assemblies
- Drawing review: marking up your prints together
Who it's for
Design and drafting engineers, manufacturing and process engineers, quality and inspection staff, and machinists who work from engineering drawings. The half-day option suits teams who already use GD&T and want a refresher or a review of their own drawings.

Frequently asked questions
Which standard do you teach?
ASME Y14.5, the standard most US drawings follow. If your drawings use ISO GPS, tell us in the quote request so the course can address it.
Do we have to share our drawings?
It's what makes the course work, but it's optional. We can sign your NDA, and a redacted or simplified set of drawings works well. Without drawings we use realistic example parts.
What if we have more than 16 people?
We run a second session so every participant can work through the exercises. The second day or session booked together is 10% off.
Can the course be split into shorter sessions?
Yes. The same 14 hours can run as four half days, for example, to keep production moving.
Do participants get a certificate?
Everyone receives a certificate of completion. It isn't a third-party certification such as ASME's GDTP, but the course covers the concepts those exams test.
Is online delivery available?
Yes, live online is available on request. Tell us in the quote request and we'll price it.
How do payment and scheduling work?
A 50% deposit holds your dates, and the balance is invoiced net 30. Purchase orders are accepted, and you can reschedule free up to 14 days before.
